MashUp 3

1. What is this mashup trying to communicate? Is it technical experiment, social or political commentary, a comedic parody, or an abstract work of media art?
This mashup is trying to communicate the transition from rock into rap, it's also means that the two aren't that far away from each other and that when mixed can become something very great.

2. Did its creator follow or break copyright laws in its production?
In it's production the creator( Danger Mouse) did break copyright laws, he broke the laws because he didn't ask the original artist( The Beatles) permission to use their song, although Danger Mouse didn't really plan on creating many copies. Danger Mouse only intended on creating 3 000 copies.

3. Do you think that mashup like this requires copyright permission? Why or why not.
I think that Mashups like this require a lot of copyright permissions because the one of the original artist is very iconic and it would be very disrespectful if the creator wouldn't respect them enough to just ask for permission.

Day "N" Nite

here's the youtube video of it

Initial reaction: What are your immediate thoughts and observations when you view the music video? My initial reaction to this video is that the video goes at a bit of a slow pace.  The beat is very easy to follow and it is catchy.  Lastly some parts of the video are animated as effects which make it a bit interesting.

Analysis and interpretation: Describe the Principles of Media Arts as they appear in the music video. Why do you think the musician, musical group, or director created this music video? What themes are promoted in this video? Are they aligned with Gospel Values, or do they counter them?  I think that they made this post to show how the artist views the world or at least how he thinks about things.  The theme that this video seems a bit like it's counter the Gospel Values because at one point we see through his eyes that he sees a couple turn into demons or monsters right after he saw a mini model  of Mary.

Consideration of cultural context: What events may have influenced the musician, musical group, and director to create this music video?  The inspiration for this video may have been the idea of showing the viewers how he sometimes sees the world.

Expression of aesthetic judgment: How does the cinematography, acting and performance, choreography, storyline, special effects, lyrics, and musicality work together in the music video? How do the visuals affect your admiration or disdain for the song?  The special effects and the storyline go very well with lyrics and the musicality because while the lyrics narrate the story, the effects illustrate the plot in a unique way.  Thanks to the visual affect my admiration for the song increased, simply because it made the video much more amusing.

Ongoing reflection: How has your chosen music video influenced your reception of the song? Well, thanks to this assignment my appreciation for the song increased because the video showed how you could portray a music video in many different unique ways.
